How the town began, the places locals know, and how to reach us when you are out on a farm road or at the edge of town.

A town named for a president
Coolidge and the nearby Coolidge Dam are both named for Calvin Coolidge, the 30th President. R.J. Jones laid out an 80-acre townsite in 1925, while the dam was still under construction on the Gila River. The dam was finished in 1930, and it turned the sandy soil into productive farmland.
Cotton made Coolidge the hub of Arizona's cotton industry. The town incorporated as a city in 1945 and has since grown into manufacturing, regional trade and services for farm families.

Reaching you out of town
Many calls here come from the edge of town, a farm road or a field gate, where a street address does not tell us much. Tell us the nearest cross road, a landmark, and the make and color of the car. If you can share a pin from your phone, even better. We tell you what to expect before we drive.
See our Anthem at Merrill Ranch page if you live in the Florence area, or all the places we cover.
